OffPage SEO covers activities which take place else were and not on your website pages. We consider the following points while performing Off Page SEO for your Website.
What is off-page SEO?
Off-page SEO covers the work done outside your own website that helps search engines and customers trust it. The checklist above lists thirteen activities we have used. Here is what each one means, followed by how we look at them today.
The thirteen items in the checklist
- Local directory submission: listing your business name, address and phone number in directories for your city or area.
- SEO directory submission: listing your website in general web directories.
- Article submission: publishing articles on other sites with a link back to yours.
- Social bookmarking: saving and sharing your pages on bookmarking sites.
- Blog submission: having your content published on other blogs.
- Forum submission: taking part in online forums related to your business.
- Linkwheel creation: building a chain of linked pages that point to your site.
- Image submission: sharing your images on image-sharing sites.
- Audio submission: sharing audio such as podcasts.
- Video submission: publishing videos on video sites.
- Document sharing: sharing presentations and PDFs.
- Classified ad posting: placing ads on classified sites.
- Infographic submission: sharing infographics with a link back to your site.
How we look at off-page SEO today
Search engines have become much stricter about links. Links that are created only to point at your site, such as mass directory entries, article spinning and linkwheels, are now treated as link schemes by Google, and they can do more harm than good. We no longer recommend linkwheels or posting links at scale.
The ideas that still work are the ones that earn attention from real people:
- A complete, accurate Google Business Profile, with the same name, address and phone number everywhere you are listed.
- Listings in relevant local and industry directories that real customers use.
- Useful articles, videos and documents that other people choose to share or link to.
- Genuine reviews from customers.
- Mentions in the local press, partner sites and professional groups.
